A couple of minutes, nothing tricky.
Click Download for Mac. The file lands in your Downloads folder.
Open the file and click Continue, then Install. macOS asks for your Mac password.
Open Dictator. Click Allow in the macOS prompts, and where System Settings opens, turn on the switch next to Dictator.
Click into any text field, press Control + Command, say your sentence and press it again. The text appears by itself.
Dictator lives in the menu bar at the top of the screen, next to the clock. It updates itself.
On macOS 12 the section is named differently: System Preferences → Security & Privacy → Privacy.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility and turn on the switch next to Dictator. Then click Restart in Dictator if it offers to.
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone and turn on the switch next to Dictator.
This happens if another version of Dictator, for example from the App Store, was on this Mac before: macOS remembers the permission for that version. Click Allow next to this row in Dictator, it removes the old record and macOS asks again. If that doesn’t help, select Dictator in the System Settings list, click −, then + and choose Dictator in the Applications folder.
Download the file again: the download was most likely cut off. If that doesn’t help, open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
Write to us in the chat, we’ll help you set it up.
