How much does it cost?

Reading text aloud with the built-in and system voices is free, with no volume limit. Paid plans start at $5.99 a month and add studio-grade cloud voices; Premium adds voice cloning.

Do I need an internet connection?

It depends on the voice. Windows system voices read text with no connection at all. The 322 natural voices are generated by an online service, so they need the internet — but they cost nothing and have no volume limit even on the free plan.

Which formats can I download?

MP3 plays everywhere, WAV is uncompressed and best for editing, OGG is the smallest, and M4A is the one Apple devices prefer. Every format is built right in your browser, so nothing is uploaded twice.
